(Photos by the author) Testing the new Can-Am Canyon Redrock in Arizona presented me with an opportunity to ride part of Historic Route 66. I began in Flagstaff, a mountain town that combines a charming historic district with the energy of a college town (Go Lumberjacks!) and a gateway location near the Grand Canyon and several national monuments. Interstate 40, which replaced or bypassed Route 66 in parts of New Mexico, Arizona, and California, runs east-west through Flagstaff.
