  • LISTEN: La Crosse city clerk Elsen on huge turnout with mayor, council and Supreme Court on ballot â...
WIZMnews.com It wasn’t quite an April record, but voter turnout in La Crosse had city clerk Nikki Elsen getting a little nervous about having to turn to paper ballots. “We’re never going to run out (of ballots), where we’re going to turn people away,” Elsen told WIZM, as she was wrapping up a 17-hour day that started around 6 a.m. and finished near midnight. “But it might have turned to, ‘You’re going to vote on a paper ballot,’ and we’re going to have to hand count these the old fashioned way.” La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-8 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). • Wisconsin can’t be bought, not even with Happy Gilmore-style, oversized $1 million checks
WIZMnews.com Don’t wear a cheesehead, unless you can name the Packers last three quarterbacks. Laughable right? Who couldn’t name the last three QBs in Green Bay? Probably the world’s richest man. He’s still the world’s richest man, right? Wisconsin voters told Elon Musk yesterday, they couldn’t be bought — even when he was giving away $1 million, Happy Gilmore-style, oversized checks. Wisconsin voters elected Susan Crawford in overwhelming fashion, telling Elon Schimel, er, Brad Schimel and, perhaps, more notably President Elon Musk and Vice President Donald Trump, “not in our state.” Musk spent $21 million trying to beat Crawford, and was in Green Bay of all places, last weekend handing out two $1 million checks. By 8 p.m., the Decision Desk HQ had already called the race for Crawford, who was up 10 points, with only 82% of the vote in. In La Crosse County, the message from voters was… ...[TheTopNews] Read More.

  • La Crosse School Board sees incumbent, two newcomers win on Tuesday
WIZMnews.com The lone incumbent member of the La Crosse School Board won re-election on Tuesday along with two other candidates. Merideth Garcia returns to the board for a second term along with first-time member Molly Fuchs and returning board member Jeff Jackson. Jackson won a special election to the board for a one year term in 2023. Due to work commitments, he was unable to run again at that time. They defeated the three other candidates on the ballot-Joy Buchman, Adam Hoffer, and Kevin Hundt. In mid-March, Hundt announced he was dropping out of the race. With less than three weeks until the election, there wasn’t time to take his name off the ballot for April 1. The three winning candidates all received endorsements earlier from the La Crosse County Democratic Party. The new board will tackle several issues involving consolidating of schools, building additions, and… ...[TheTopNews] Read More.
