Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R) is getting absolutely skewered by her fellow conservatives for running a new ad depicting a young White man as a lazy, video-game-obsessed freeloader living off of welfare. Sanders posted the video to X on Monday morning — and it was immediately ripped to shreds. Right-wing pundits and users bashed the ad for bogusly depicting White men as the main beneficiaries of welfare, while others said it was socially clueless because it dismissed how hard it is for guys to get jobs, one month after women accounted for 98% of new hires. The 30-second ad showed a grubby young White guy named “Brad” passionately playing a video game and chowing down on Cheetos, before taking a snooze on his beanbag. “Meet Brad. Brad has turned relaxing into a full-time profession,” Sanders said in the clip. “But you, you actually work hard, you pay taxes to cover welfare for guys like Brad, who just choose not to work.” She went on to say fellas like Brad are the reason she put a “welfare to work” plan in place earlier this year. The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh posted that the ad absurdly painted the White men as “welfare leeches.” “Meanwhile, back in reality, women are significantly more likely to be on welfare than men. And Black people are astronomically more likely to be on welfare than white people,” Walsh posted. “So the number of single young white male ‘Brads’ abusing the welfare system is minuscule. Practically non-existent.” He continued, “But of course Republicans don’t have the balls to do this ad with ‘Shaniqua’ as the villain.
