  • Bert Goldman: A Booster for Broadcast Innovation
Bert Goldman adds KQED(FM) as the sixth station in the MaxxCasting node covering Pittsburg and Antioch, Calif. Bert Goldman has had a decorated career, spanning more than 50 years.  For many, he’s best known for his work as senior technical advisor to GeoBroadcast Solutions. He helped refine its synchronized FM booster technologies, used in MaxxCasting systems that combine radio and cellular technology to enable stations to maximize signal penetration in a variety of ways.  And now that GBS has gained FCC approval for its ZoneCasting geotargeting technology, Goldman has been busy planning installations of program-originating boosters.  He estimates he has filed more than 100 FM booster and translator applications and devoted many hours to system testing, design and FCC paperwork over the past 15 years. He has visited India three times for testing of GBS booster technology there.  But in the course of his career Goldman also has led engineering departments of iconic radio companies such as ABC/Disney Radio, Nationwide Communications, Patterson Broadcasting and Shamrock Broadcasting. Today he owns and runs Goldman Engineering Management. Now he has been recognized for his work by the National Association of Broadcasters, which named him recipient of its 2026 NAB Radio Engineering Achievement Award.  “A nationally respected expert in AM and FM spectrum analysis, Goldman has helped broadcasters improve performance, expand coverage and enhance asset value,” in the words of NAB. “His work spans station construction, technical operations and regulatory compliance, and he is widely regarded for his deep expertise in FCC rules, FM booster and translator engineering and directional AM antenna system design.”  The development of MaxxCasting  While Goldman, 72, has managed capital budgets, built studios, directed regulatory compliance and developed technical strategies throughout his career, it’s his work with GBS that has grabbed headlines. Bert Goldman GBS founder and CEO Chris Devine came to Goldman around 2011 with what Goldman felt was a crazy idea. “I’d known Chris for years and years, and he had this idea to build these FM boosters. He called me up and he asked me what I thought of it. Quite honestly, I was pretty negative. I didn’t think you could build these things without a significant amount of interference.”  Goldman had been experimenting with boosters since the early 1990s. While some that had good terrain blockage worked better than no booster, he said others “admittedly were spectacular failures.” He suggested that Devine contact Bill Hieatt, whom Goldman had worked with at First Broadcasting. Hieatt had… [TheTopNews] Read More.

  • Watch the One That Started It All: Trump Gets Roasted at WHCD By Birther Target ...
President Donald Trump is well into his second term, but many people trace the genesis of his presidency to that night in 2011 when then-President Barack Obama roasted him from the WHCD lectern. Here’s the speech that started it all. At the time, Obama was locked in a reelection fight with Mitt Romney, Trump was several weeks into his racist “Birther ” crusade, which sparked a group of protesters to show up outside the WHCD that Trump was attending, and Osama Bin Laden was hours away from becoming so much toast. President Obama devoted several cutting minutes to roasting Trump, and the rest, as they say, is history: And then there’s a vicious rumor floating around that I think could really hurt Mitt Romney. I heard he passed universal health care when he was Governor of Massachusetts. [Laughter] Someone should get to the bottom of that. And I know just the guy to do it; Donald Trump is here tonight! [Laughter] Now, I know that he’s taken some flak lately, but no one is happier, no one is prouder to put this birth certificate matter to rest than the Donald. [Laughter] And that’s because he can finally get back to focusing on the issues that matter, like, did we fake the Moon landing? What really happened in Roswell? [Laughter] And where are Biggie and Tupac? [Laughter] But all kidding aside, obviously, we all know about your credentials and breadth of experience. [Laughter] For example—no, seriously, just recently, in an episode of “Celebrity Apprentice”—[laughter]—at the steakhouse, the men’s cooking team did not impress the judges from Omaha Steaks. And there was a lot of blame to go around. But you, Mr. Trump, recognized that the real problem was a lack of leadership. And so ultimately, you didn’t blame Lil Jon or Meat Loaf—[laughter]—you fired Gary Busey. [Laughter] And these are the kind of decisions that would keep me up at night. Well handled, sir. [Laughter] Well handled. Say what you will about Mr. Trump, he certainly would bring some change to the White House. Let’s see what we’ve got up there. [Laughter] [An image of the White House with a sign reading “Trump White House Resort and Casino” was shown.] Watch above via The Obama White House. The post Watch the One That Started It All: Trump Gets Roasted at WHCD By Birther Target Obama first appeared on Mediaite. • ‘Walk the F*ck Out!’ Jim Acosta Demands Journos Bail on Trump at WHCD
Independent journalist Jim Acosta demanded that journalists “Walk the f*ck out!” if President Donald Trump starts attacking them at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD), while Katie Couric had another idea. Trump will attend his first WHCD in office on Saturday night, as will frequent press attackers like Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and FCC Chair Brendan Carr. In response, some White House Correspondents’ Association members have settled on a silent protest involving First Amendment-themed accessories like pocket squares and lapel pins. But Acosta and Couric had something stronger in mind on Friday’s episode of The Jim Acosta Show, with Acosta urging a walkout while Couric suggested peppering Trump with questions he has refused to answer: KATIE COURIC: What do you expect to happen tomorrow night? I know there is going to be some kind of speech. The president of the White House Correspondents Association is going to be talking, but then, I mean, what will that even mean if the president of United States stands up and trashes and singles out, you know, reporters, and basically… Insults and humiliates everyone in that room. I agree with that subscriber. JIM ACOSTA: I will tell you exactly what I think and on Fridays I occasionally do these segments called f*ck It Friday where, you know, we’re on Substack or YouTube so I just let it rip sometimes. I think if Trump starts doing that the reporters in the room should walk the f*ck out! They should get up and leave! KATIE COURIC: Will they though? They won’t. JIM ACOSTA: I know! But that’s my personal point on this. I think that my sense of it is right now is that the media is one of the last institutions in this country that has come to the realization that you have to stand up to the bully. And I know that people will say, well, is that being a reporter? Does that do your job? I think you have stand up for something and stand up our profession and stand up for the First Amendment. And my understanding is he’s gonna come in there and trash everybody and then walk out and not even stay for the awards or any of that stuff, or any the toasting of the First Amendment and so on. And I just think that it’s such a travesty. And so maybe folks will just sit there, as you know, Katie, at these events, they… [TheTopNews] Read More.

  • Fox Expert Warns Iran Views Ceasefire as Win Over ‘Pressured’ Trump
Retired Gen. Jack Keane warned on Saturday that Iran feels they have the advantage in dragging out the current war, seeing the extended ceasefire as a victory over President Donald Trump. Keane joined Fox & Friends Weekend and though he praised Trump as the United States’ best advantage in negotiations with Iran, he also warned that those at the negotiating table need to be realistic about where Iran stands. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) is the current “dominant” force in Iran’s government, Keane said, meaning the U.S. is dealing with “hardliners” willing to drag the conflict out for as long as they can. The Fox News analyst said: These people are all the same for their bona fide hardliners and where they are coming from going into these talks [is] they think they made progress to get the United States to go to a pause and a ceasefire once they closed down Strait of Hormuz because they believe that decision was made because of political and economic pressure. That has encouraged them to continue to do this, to drag out these negotiations. After all, we have passed a ceasefire deadline. In their minds — and we’ve got to get inside their head and how they are thinking out through their prism — but how they are thinking they believe that’s a good thing, “we’re dragging this out,” and therefore the pressure will mount on the president in terms of political and economic pressure that would force him to make more concessions and he certainly wanted to make. Keane warned Iranian military leaders will “absorb suffering much beyond anything we think is tolerable because they do not care about the suffering of their people.” The analyst and retired four-star general said he believes Trump will not fall into making further concessions to Iran, which has reportedly been striking ships in the Strait of Hormuz amid the ceasefire. Keane praised Trump’s blockade, however, as “formidable.” “[They] are counting on the fact that the pressure will force [Trump] into making concessions he would not be willing to make,” Keane said. “That is not going to happen. i believe they’re in a state of miscalculation.” Watch above via Fox News. The post Fox Expert Warns Iran Views Ceasefire as Win Over ‘Pressured’ Trump first appeared on Mediaite. • NBC News Drops Bombshell Report on Trump War Battle Damage: ‘Far Worse’ Than...
screenshot NBC News dropped a bombshell report on Saturday that multiple government officials say damage to U.S. military bases was much more extensive than President Donald Trump’s officials have publicly disclosed. The president is preparing to speak at his first White House Correspondents’ Dinner (WHCD) in office on Saturday night, as will frequent press attackers like Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and FCC Chair Brendan Carr. Pentagon reporting has been in the administration’s crosshairs, but a parade of anonymous government sources nevertheless contributed to the reporting by NBC’s Gordon Lubold, Courtney Kube, Mosheh Gains, and Natasha Lebedeva. The team attributed six sources for their report, which revealed that repairs from the Iran War damage will cost billions: American military bases and other equipment in the Persian Gulf region suffered extensive damage from Iranian strikes that is far worse than publicly acknowledged and is expected to cost billions of dollars to repair, according to three U.S. officials, two congressional aides and another person familiar with the damage. The Iranian regime swiftly retaliated after the Trump administration attacked on Feb. 28, hitting dozens of targets across U.S. military bases in seven Middle East countries. Those attacks struck warehouses, command headquarters, aircraft hangars, satellite communications infrastructure, runways, high-end radar systems and dozens of aircraft, according to the U.S. officials and an assessment by the American Enterprise Institute, a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C. In the initial days of the war, an Iranian F-5 fighter jet bombed the U.S. base Camp Buehring in Kuwait, despite the base having air defenses, a rare breach that marked the first time an enemy fixed-wing aircraft has struck an American military base in years, according to two of the U.S. officials. The U.S. bases that came under attack are home to thousands of American troops, and in some cases their families, though they were largely cleared out in the days and hours before the U.S. and Israeli went to war with Iran. • Fox Hosts Marvel at Trump’s Reaction To WHCD Roast That Kicked Off Political C...
The hosts of Fox & Friends Weekend pulled up a throwback clip of President Donald Trump on Saturday, marveling at the pre-president’s reaction to a famous roasting he received during the 2011 White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Trump is set to make an appearance at the White House Correspondents Dinner again on Saturday evening, and Fox hosts Rachel Campos-Duffy used the occasion to show Trump’s 2011 appearance when he was still the host of Celebrity Apprentice and only flirting with the idea of running for president. Campos-Duffy argued, as many others have, that jokes made at Trump’s expense by then-President Barack Obama kicked Trump’s political ambitions into high gear. “Obama thought he could mock him,” Campos-Duffy said. “And when he did this is what happened, and I think this was the deciding moment President Trump was like, ‘you did this to me, I’m running to show you.'” During the dinner, Obama made multiple jokes targeting Trump, including one about “changes” he would potentially bring to the White House, showing a neon sign for the White House in the fashion of a Las Vegas casino. Trump has denied the Obama digs being specifically what made him want to run for president, insisting last month that he had a “good time” at the event. “I was saying to [my wife], I said ‘You know, I love this, I am having a good time,’ because every joke was about me and I sort of liked– I can handle that stuff,” he told Fox News. Griff Jenkins recalled attending the 2011 event and feeling the energy change in the room as conversations became more about the reality of Trump’s chances of actually making it to the White House, should he choose to run. “I was at that dinner that year and I can tell you the conversation at our table and every other table in that room — because no one had really thought about it — became, you know what, if he runs actually might win,” he said. “I’m so focused on his face, look at his face during this, he’s like, alright, you got the microphone now, just wait,” Campos-Duffy said as she continued watching Trump. “Trump was already famous enough that he was part of the culture,” Charlie Hurt added. “That joke would not have worked — not that it did work all that well — but that joke wouldn’t… [TheTopNews] Read More.
