The Iowa DOT said contractors on the project said all the concrete is poured for the new bridge piers and abutments. They now need a week for the concrete to cure inside the forms. Next, according to the DOT, the contractor is building towers just west of pier one to support the steel framework of the bridge during construction. Later this fall, the current Black Hawk Bridge is closing after 94 years of service. The new bridge across the river is set to open in 2027.
