TOP STORY ’60 MINUTES’ GETS ITS FIRST REPORT CARDS The first episode of Bari Weiss and Nick Bilton’s 60 Minutes aired Sunday, and for a lot of people, despite the turnover the show’s experienced, the actual episode seemed to be more of the same — exactly what they expected. But for some of our authors, it’s just too soon to determine what the heck is actually going to unfold for the program this season. That’s partly because some members of the conservative-leaning media will be looking for any chance to call the reimagined show a success from the jump, and partly because their more liberal counterparts have already written it off. THREE TAKES Barrett Media’s Morning Edition, Garrett Searight — It’s too soon to claim Bari Weiss’ first stab at 60 Minutes was a success, Searight wrote today. Searight believes conservative media will call the race before it’s even really begun. “Conservative media figures across radio, television, podcasts, and social media will call it a win [if it gets a big rating],” Searight continued. “That’s poppycock. Mularkey. Balderdash. Pick your favorite synonym for ‘b*llshit’, because that’s what a one-episode victory lap amounts to.” The show may still end up a success, but “nobody watching a single Sunday broadcast can prove that’s what’s happening, and pretending otherwise does a disservice to how ratings actually work.” Newsbusters, Nicholas Spinnato — But counter to what Barrett’s Searight believes, one conservative outlet DID NOT jump to praise the new 60 Minutes. Despite plenty of concern from the Left that a Weiss-run 60 Minutes would offer little more than Trumpian propaganda, for Spinnato, Sunday’s episode “continued to showcase the program’s liberal bias.” Ahead of the season premiere, a Newsbusters study determined the “show had a nearly five-to-one bias of liberal stories compared to conservative ones over the past six seasons.” As Spinnato concluded, “In reality, the season premiere did not feel that much different compared to the previous seasons, as the show led with two familiar faces in correspondents Norah O’Donnell and Lesley Stahl, and the pair, especially Stahl, still showed their anti-Trump bias.” Status, Oliver Darcy — The episode relied on an exclusive from an American service member… [TheTopNews] Read More.4 hours ago - Blumenthal Grills Kash Patel on Report About Russian Oligarch Funding Donald Tru...
Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) pressed FBI Director Kash Patel about a shocking report that an oligarch with ties to Russian strongman Vladimir Putin funded parties for Donald Trump Jr. during his Bahamas wedding weekend. Patel, facing lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, was asked by Blumenthal if he had begun an investigation into “potential intelligence compromises” regarding Umar Kremlev, the head of the International Boxing Association and Putin-linked oligarch. “I’m not sure what public reporting you are referring to,” Patel replied, adding that counterespionage arrests are up 50 percent, “including from Russia.” Blumenthal went on: Well, these reports were public yesterday. They’ve been widely publicized in the press. And it would seem to me that they should be a topic of investigation for the FBI. You have a counterintelligence mission. This individual has been involved, in fact, in the reeducation of Ukrainian children. In my trips to Ukraine — I have done it 11 times. I’ve talked to many of those children who have been abducted by Putin’s forces — this individual apparently is involved in those activities, but also is directly tied to Putin. And I think there’s a potential for compromise in intelligence and also the possibility of improper influence. Patel fired back: “As I stated, we are fulfilling our counterintelligence and espionage mission greater than any FBI has ever done so- Blumenthal then cut him off, saying, “I want to know what specific steps you’re doing to investigate this instance.” “First of all, you are referring to something that happened yesterday in public reporting. And public reporting is generally inaccurate. What the men and women of the FBI do in every case is look at whatever information comes our way and analyze it.” After Patel denied having tracked the ProPublica report, Blumenthal wrapped up on the topic with a demand that Patel investigate Kremlev “immediately,” insisting, “It’s appropriate that you do so.” The explosive ProPublica investigation, published on Monday, reported that Kremlev’s company paid $100,000 for a private island party on the weekend of Don Jr.’s wedding to Bettina Anderson, along with a $70,000 fireworks display. Trump Jr. and Anderson did not deny ProPublica’s reporting, releasing a lengthy statement via social media that read in part: “Our dear friend Umar very generously hosted two incredible nights of celebrations for us AFTER our wedding. It was an extraordinarily generous wedding gift from a friend,… [TheTopNews] Read More.5 hours ago - JUST IN: Judge Rules Trump’s Name Can’t Be Added to Kennedy Center ‘Withou...
AP Photo/Rahmat Gul A federal judge has ruled that President Donald Trump’s name cannot be added to the Kennedy Center without an act of Congress, issuing a scathing opinion rejecting the arguments made by the president’s appointees on the center’s board. In a 22-page opinion and order, Judge Christopher Cooper, an Obama appointee on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, cited his ruling from May in which he “declared that Congress named the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts for President John F. Kennedy alone.” JUST IN: Judge Cooper has broadly blocked the Kennedy Center from inscribing Trump's name on the building. "Simply put, Defendants cannot install memorials for President Trump or anyone or anything else at the Kennedy Center without Congress’s blessing."https://t.co/rUhjOVSIoF pic.twitter.com/9bf0tqmQPz — Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) September 15, 2026 Cooper said his decision was based on “a simple reason: The federal law that created the Kennedy Center permitted no other result,” citing a 1983 amendment to the law that created the Kennedy Center that mandated “no additional memorials or plaques in the nature of memorials shall be designated or installed in the public areas” of the center. The court’s prior order found the action by the center’s board — dominated by Trump appointees — was a violation of federal law and further “ordered the permanent removal of the President’s name from the front portico of the main building, as well as any other physical or digital signage or official materials,” wrote Cooper, but “[y]et the drama at the Kennedy Center continues.” The center board had passed a resolution on Aug. 13 that sought to “recognize and honor President Trump’s current and future existential and unprecedented contributions to the survival of the Center” by adding a new inscription for the center underneath Kennedy’s name on the façade that read “Restored and Renovated by President Donald J. Trump” and “Endowed by The Trump Kennedy Center Fund,” as well as renaming a grounds area “President Donald J. Trump Plaza.” “Simply put, Defendants cannot install memorials for President Trump or anyone or anything else at the Kennedy Center without Congress’s blessing,” wrote Cooper. “The board resolution bucks a federal court order and a statute Congress enacted.” This is a breaking news story and may be updated. Artificial Intelligence is a subject President Trump is currently being scorched over. He is criticized for his approach to the countless tendrils that advancing tech has on our culture, and the implications of China spearheading its advancement. But his critics may be acting worse, prostrating themselves to the AI corporations this week. CNN last week spoke with an on-screen figure, and NBC followed suit on Monday, interviewing Tilly Norwood. The outlet interviewed Tilly to get a sense of how future movie appearances will play out. What was delivered is not a standard entertainment interview, where a reporter has a one-on-one with a thespian. Elizabeth Wagmeister at CNN and Chloe Melas at NBC News “interviewed” an artificial intelligence “actress.” Tilly Norwood is a fabricated digital performer, and there is an effort to have this character cast into films. In both interviews, the reporters spoke in a video conference (obviously) and asked a battery of questions and received responses in real time. This was not an overly impressive exchange, however. Tilly displayed clearly staged responses, such as commenting on what both reporters were wearing and the setting of the room they were in. These news reports almost feel like a typical Hollywood junket, but why the outlets played along is somewhat disturbing. As an introduction to Wagmeister’s interview, Erin Burnett was actually humanizing this artificial intelligence, referring to this being HER first interview, and that SHE is causing outrage, not IT. AI-generated “actor,” Tilly Norwood talks to CNN for her first on-camera interview. How does she respond to the outrage she’s causing across Hollywood? pic.twitter.com/UoXFitDpGA — Erin Burnett OutFront (@OutFrontCNN) September 11, 2026 That approach alone is taking the next step down the slippery digital slope. Tilly was created by comedienne Eileen Van Der Velden, working with an AI production company called Particle Six. Van Der Velden has her own digital stable of characters with her company Xicoia, described as an AI talent studio. There were shockwaves sent through the entertainment industry when, last year at this time, Tilly Norwood was being shopped around to talent agencies in Hollywood. That this not only took place but also generated interest in representing the “actress” generated a wave of reactions in the acting community. The performers’ union, the Screen Actors Guild, reacted loudly to Tilly being shopped around to agencies, as expected. When SAG-AFTRA was on strike three years ago, the… [TheTopNews] Read More.5 hours ago - Trump Accuses Joe Biden of Concealing Evidence of ‘Democrat Plot’ to Kill Hi...
(AP Photo/Evan Vucci) President Donald Trump accused former President Joe Biden and the FBI of concealing evidence about the assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania, which Trump called a “Democrat plot” to murder him and get him out of the 2024 race. The president made the provocative claims in a Tuesday post on Truth Social. “Everybody knows the Crooked Joe Biden FBI didn’t do what they should have with respect to the Lunatic who shot me in Butler, PA,” Trump posted. “By the time I got into Office, on January 20th, most of the information was missing, altered, corrupted, or gone. New info was just found! Why wasn’t it seen long ago?” He continued: This was all a Democrat Plot, to get me out of the Election, that failed. Dirty Cop Christopher Wray should pay a price for the way he handled this assassination attempt, and certainly for the things he said. GOD BLESS AMERICA — MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP His post comes two years after 20-year-old shooter Thomas Crooks fired eight rounds at then-candidate Trump while he was speaking at a July 2024 rally. One of the shots — fired from a rooftop about 150 yards aways — hit Trump in the ear, while another killed rally attendee Corey Comperatore, a former fire chief who was there with his family. Crooks was killed by Secret Service at the scene, and the FBI concluded a year later Crooks acted alone. Still, some have questioned whether there are more details about the murder attempt left to be unearthed. In June, the FBI skewered a conservative watchdog group after it accused the bureau of “slow rolling” the release of information on the assassination attempt. And a month later, Comperatore’s widow told NewsNation she believed the U.S. Government was behind the shooting. “I believe it was an inside job, inside the government somewhere,” Helen Comperatore said. The post Trump Accuses Joe Biden of Concealing Evidence of ‘Democrat Plot’ to Kill Him in Butler first appeared on Mediaite.
