  • Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Settle Lawsuit Two Weeks Before Bruising Trial S...
AP Photo/Seth Wenig Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have settled their litigation battle, two weeks before they were scheduled to begin a trial that was widely expected to be brutal and deeply personal. The two have been warring through court filings and press releases after working together on the 2024 film, It Ends With Us. Based on a 2016 book by Colleen Hoover, the film starred Baldoni and Lively as a couple in an abusive relationship. Baldoni also directed the film. In December 2024, Lively sued Baldoni and his production company for sexual harassment and retaliation, accusing him of using his team of publicists to launch a digital smear campaign against her. Baldoni filed his own litigation against Lively, Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds, and The New York Times, accusing the paper of libel in how it reported Lively’s allegations against him. Baldoni’s lawsuits were dismissed last November; a judge dismissed ten out of of Lively’s 13 claims against Baldoni but her three remaining claims — retaliation, aiding and abetting retaliation, and breach of contract — were headed to trial this month. Several outlets made puns with the movie name to report “It ends with a settlement,” including TMZ and Variety, as the news broke on Monday. The parties issued a joint statement about the settlement: The end product – the movie “It Ends With Us’” – is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors – and all survivors – is a goal that we stand behind. We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard. We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online. TMZ’s report noted that this statement did not include any apology from Baldoni and “[i]t appears no money is changing hands.” “Most legal experts say there would have been no winners” if the case had gone to trial, reported TMZ. “Both Justin and Blake would have been raked over the coals.”The post Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Settle Lawsuit Two Weeks Before Bruising Trial Set to Begin first appeared on Mediaite. • ‘We’re Apologizing to This Guy?!’ Fox’s Kudlow Stunned That Judge Is Wor...
Fox News’s Larry Kudlow was appalled when he heard that Judge Zia Faruqui apologized to the alleged White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter over the way he’s been treated in jail. Cole Tomas Allen, who has been charged with trying to assassinate President Donald Trump at the dinner, appeared before Judge Faruqui on Monday. “The judge, very concerned about [Allen’s] constitutional rights, saying the defendant has requested a Bible, has asked meetings with  his legal team, and that has not been allowed,” reported Fox News’s Mike Emanuel. “He’s been put in restrictive 24-hour lockup with no windows and a padded room without an opportunity to get out for recreation, and so the judge making it clear to the department of corrections that he wants answers by tomorrow morning about exactly what the housing determination will be made for the suspect in this case out of grave concern about his constitutional rights, and that apology issued near the end of the hearing,” Emanuel said. “A lot of people might be shocked by that,” said anchor Sandra Smith. “The judge apologized to this guy?” Kudlow bellowed off-camera, then continued on-camera. “Who is a killer? Who, if he had gotten another couple yards, would have sprayed the whole audience in the correspondents’ dinner? I mean, would have just sprayed them and killed God knows how many, and then would have marched up and taken a shot over the whole audience at the president? We’re apologizing to this guy? I don’t get that.” “Seems more concerned about his constitutional rights in some cases,” Smith said. “Constitutional rights?!” Kudlow repeated before bringing in attorney Jonathan Turley. “Jonathan, would you speak to this, please? I mean, I guess prisoners have constitutional rights. The guy is a killer, and God knows what would have happened if we hadn’t taken him down. So I’m not really — I don’t really think I’m that worried about his housing situation, but you tell me if I’m wrong.” Turley said that prisoners do, in fact, have constitutional rights. “He’ll get access to his lawyers. He’ll get access to a Bible. But the Department of Justice itself is going to retain a great deal of discretion on how he is housed,” Turley said. • Trump Boasts That ‘Everyone Was Wrong’ About Oil Prices Amid Iran War: They ...
Despite surging gas prices nationwide, President Donald Trump bragged about oil prices — claiming some critics predicted it would go to $300 per barrel. Speaking as part of a small business summit at the White House on Monday, the president saluted Energy Secretary Chris Wright and sounded satisfied with the current level of oil prices. And he claimed his critics had predicted oil prices would hit a truly disastrous level. “Everybody was wrong,” Trump said. “They thought that energy would be at $300, right? Three hundred dollars a barrel. And it’s, like, at $100. And I think going down. And I see it going down very substantially when this is over.” As of this writing, crude oil is trading at just over $105 per barrel. And gas prices continue to spike nationwide. The industry tracking Gas Buddy shows $4.45 as the average price for a gallon of regular gas nationwide — up by more than $1.50 from just two months ago. Still, Trump sounded an optimistic note on a subject where he has sometimes sounded less than confident. “I see it going down very substantially when this is over,” Trump said. “I think very rapidly too at levels that you’ve never seen. Because there’s there’s a lot of energy out there. Ships all over the world that are loaded up with it. They can’t do much with it because they got kidnapped by a pretty evil place, but we’re taking care of it.” Watch above, via Fox News. The post Trump Boasts That ‘Everyone Was Wrong’ About Oil Prices Amid Iran War: They Thought it Would Be ‘$300 a Barrel’ first appeared on Mediaite. • Judge Says Alleged WHCD Shooter Is Being Treated Worse than Gang Members, Jan. 6...
Dana Verkouteren via AP A federal magistrate judge sharply criticized officials at the Washington, D.C. jail where Cole Tomas Allen is being held, accusing them of subjecting the accused White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter to harsher treatment than the law allows. Allen, a 31-year-old from California, was quickly apprehended and arrested when he attempted to storm into the WHCD on April 25. He has been charged with three federal crimes: an attempt to carry out a political assassination, transporting a firearm across state lines, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence, and is facing a potential maximum sentence of life in prison. Allen was in court again Monday as Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui grilled government lawyers about how he was being treated. Allen has been kept “in severe lockdown — including a temporary suicide watch that required 24-hour-a-day placement in a padded, lighted cell without access to phone calls, books, religious material or recreational time,” according to a report by Politico senior legal affairs reporter Kyle Cheney. According to Cheney, the judge previously presided over “hundreds of cases” connected to the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and directly compared how those defendants were treated to how Allen was being treated now. The judge commented that Allen’s situation “appeared to be unfairly punitive and not based on any known medical assessment,” wrote Cheney. Faruqui openly questioned why Allen was being subjected to harsher treatment and highlighted how the Jan. 6 defendants had also faced “similar allegations of political violence aimed at members of Congress and government leaders,” wrote Cheney. Allen was “being treated differently than anyone I’ve ever observed,” said Faruqui, especially in light of how “the Jan. 6 defendants were all moved to the CTF,” the Central Treatment Facility, a less restrictive wing of the jail, and were allowed multiple major accommodations including gluten-free or vegan diets and access to computer tablets. FARUQUI says Allen is "being treated differently than anyone I’ve ever observed." He says terrorists, gang members and others charged with political violence haven't been treated as restrictively as Allen. Towns says limits are all being decided by medical staff. — Kyle Cheney (@kyledcheney) May 4, 2026 The seriousness of the charges against Allen does not negate the presumption of innocence, the judge noted, especially since he has no prior criminal history. According to Cheney, the judge “apologized to Allen,… [TheTopNews] Read More.
